Class: Saturday, April 21, 2017 (April 28 rain date)
Time: 7- 4:30 PM
Location: begins in Sandwich, MA on the (Cape side) at the east end of the canal
Cost: $65 members/$75 non-members
The workshop will begin at 7 am in Sandwich, MA on the (Cape side) at the east end of the canal to photograph the entrance breakwaters, possible mariner traffic and wildlife. We will stay in the area long enough to meet, gather and snap a few images. We will then plan to leave this location to stop at the nearby meandering estuary, and boardwalk to one of Sandwich’s beloved beaches, Town Neck Beach. You will have an opportunity to explore this area and compose and take some images here. Leaving for Eastham at 8:30 we will meet as a group at 10 am in the parking lot of the Salt Pond’s Visitors Center.
Here we will focus on the tidal basic, cedar woods, and briefly on the trails before heading to Coast Guard Beach and the Great Salt Marsh. This area has a lot to see and experience. As a group we will devote time to compose images and photograph the essence of nature in this beautiful setting. Here we will have the beach, cedar woods, boardwalk, Coast Guard House, the bathing house, dunes and marsh. There may be many other photo ops with wild life, recreational fishermen, sea life and tidal debris. I would aim to have almost a full hour in each location, Salt Pond and then the outer beach.
I would like to direct the group to depart from Coast Guard Beach around noon with an option to break for lunch no later than 1:30 at Highland Lighthouse. In between we will drive along the shore road to Nauset Beach, Nauset Light and the Three Sisters Lighthouses. The group will help to set the pace, so it is advisable that you pack a snack and water in case the need arises. Lunch no later than 1:30 @ Highland Lighthouse.
