June 15th: “New Sandwich Arts Alliance to Launch at SandwichFest”
Sandwich, MA – June 15, 2015. The new Sandwich Arts Alliance is proud to announce the launch of the Alliance at SandwichFest on Sat, Jun 27, 10-4, with an Art Show, a Music Tent, a Readers’ Tent, a Drama Tent, an Authors’ Tent including a Twinning Table with Sandwich, UK representative Jim Marshall, and fun for kids.
“This is really an exciting time, watching our Sandwich Arts Alliance grow so quickly and with such enthusiasm! In January we didn't exist, and now we have four active groups, a great Board of Directors, a membership of 50 in one short month, a database of nearly 200 artists all from Sandwich, and our 501(c)(3) in progress. We've formed a partnership with the Glass Town Cultural District, joined the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod, and are sponsoring joint programs with the Town Hall Preservation Trust. This wouldn't have happened if it weren't for everyone willing to share their art, ideas and time”, stated Joanne Westerhouse, President.
The Alliance is composed of four groups of artisans and friends who enjoy networking, enhancing their skills, and sharing them with others. The groups are:
Visual Arts Group, led by Margo Mancinelli, is comprised of creative people of all ages, interests and abilities. Members work in two and three dimension in any media.
Literary Arts Group, led by Christie Lowrance and Dean Coe, strives to support writers by developing and promoting writing skills and sales, facilitating contacts, information exchange, and relationships.
Performing Arts Group, led by Todd Hermann, brings together professionals and amateurs who enjoy the magic of performance of all kinds and styles -- music, dance, theater, storytelling, opera, and stagecraft. Collaborating and trying new venues and opportunities is what they do.
Friends of the Arts Group, led by Cindy Russell, is a great fun group which lends their talents and/or support to promote and fund Sandwich’s creative arts culture which will strengthen our economy and enhance our quality of life.
Each group’s meetings and additional information can be found on our new website at www.sandwichartsalliance.org. Founding Members memberships are now available for $30 per person or $50 per family/dual. Memberships support programs, performances, and exhibitions by local artists, writers and performers. “By joining the Alliance, you will be in at the beginning of a new organization dedicated to making Sandwich an artistic center on Cape Cod”, commented Aurora Winters, Volunteer Director.
“Of course branding is very important for the new Alliance group and the Marketing Committee members have creatively risen to the challenge!” commented Cindy Russell, Vice President. Rose Provencher of Splash Stationers’ drew inspiration from the Town Hall stenciled ceiling as an early example of Sandwich’s artistic endeavors and created a beautiful logo that truly represents our art culture then and now. Donna Rockwell of Do Well Designs’ tag line ‘Empowering the Arts . . . Enriching the Community’ perfectly states the objectives of the Sandwich Arts Alliance. The new website committee of Samantha Hendy and Donna Rockwell are building a website and Facebook page that will be a tell-all about the Alliance news for each group, member, program, event and more. The monthly newsletter by Editor Wade Sayer will be a snapshot of the website with even more news. Sandwich Arts Alliance will have balloons, tee shirts and stickers on hand at SandwichFest thanks to Terri Hendy, Rose Provencher and Cindy Russell. “Logo, tag line, website, Facebook, newsletter, and merchandise – and that is just for starters!” added Ms. Russell.
This ambitious group’s first event will be at the Sandwich Chamber of Commerce’s SandwichFest on June 27th, on the grounds of the Deacon Eldred House, 4 Water Street, from 10am-4pm exhibiting in six different tents.
