This is a great class to help inspire children to spark their interest, imagination and creativity. We provide a wide range of materials for children to arrange and organize into a beautiful well composed piece of art. We encourage students to bring in materials that they would like to include in their collage: ( photos, greeting cards, postcards, candy wrappers, small pieces of fabris. shells ticket stubs….) andything that would make their collage more personal. This is a fun experience using lots of different textures, tools and techniques for children to express themselves using hands- on art. Collage is an easy and fun mode of creative expression that ALL ages can enjoy.
We explore several of Eric Carle's books for visual reference. The children will study the artwork and speculate how it was created. We discuss many techniques used to create these beautiful pieces. We also explore the use of shapes and patterns, colors and textures, and harmony and contrast. Children will learn to mix colors and textures with many different materials to create a beautiful, meaningful collage to share with family and friends. This artform has endless possibilities for artistic expression.
