COURSE DESCRIPTION: This 5-week course is perfect for newbie screenwriters! I'll teach you all the essential tools and lingo you need to write a wonderful short film script. Don't be intimidated in you’re a beginner; we'll start with the basics of visual storytelling. We'll break down story structure, theme, character, and conflict. Plus, our in-class discussions are a no-pressure zone where you'll get supportive feedback. And don't worry about finding time for this course - classes only meet once a week for 2 hours. No experience necessary. INSTRUCTIONAL METHODS: This class is taught in lots of different ways, like lectures, screening clips, group chats, writing tasks, and project talks. Everyone should be cool with sharing their work and chatting about their classmates' work in class. TOPICS INCLUDE: Theme, Story Structure, Character Development, Text vs Subtext, Writing Dialogue, and Screenplay Formatting INSTRUCTOR: Claude Kerven
