We’ll build on your foundation by refining your understanding of value, shape, and perspective, while also introducing color and ink as exciting new materials to bring more depth and expression to your work. You’ll explore a variety of subjects, from portraits and still life to more dynamic compositions, developing stronger techniques and a deeper artistic confidence.
Through guided exercises and creative exploration, you’ll learn how to bring personality and energy into your sketches while strengthening your technical skills. This class is perfect for those who have taken my beginner’s class or anyone with a basic understanding of materials, shape and form, perspective, and proportions who is eager to grow as an artist. ![]() Ana Johnson-Moore is a professional artist living in Sandwich, MA. Originally from Bucharest, Romania, she has found her creative haven on Cape Cod. Over the past five years, she has specialized in watercolor painting, creating diverse commissions and showcasing her work in galleries across the Northeast and in international art publications. Her collaborations with local shops and businesses have fostered a vibrant artistic community.
Watercolors hold a special place in Ana's heart, perfectly capturing the essence of her inspirations from beachside walks and vivid daydreams. Influences from vaporwave music, anime, 80s neon, and horror novels infuse her work, transforming everyday moments into art. In her beginner watercolor class, Ana shares her passion and knowledge, providing a welcoming space for both novices and those looking to refine their skills. Material list ● Drawing pencils (ranging from 2H to 6B or beyond for various shading and line work) ● Eraser (both a standard eraser and a kneaded eraser for finer details) ● Sharpener (preferably with a cover to catch shavings) OR Drawing set : My Suggestion or other similar sets ● Set of waterproof black ink pens My Suggestion ● Colored pencils My Suggestion ● Sketchpad (preferably 11’’x14’’ or larger, with medium-weight paper, tinted beige or gray) My suggestion ● Large newsprint pad ● Ruler (for perspective and measuring) ● Spray fixative for pencils and pastels (optional) My suggestion ● Artist Tape (to cover the edges) ● Blending stumps or tortillons (for shading and blending) ● Charcoal pencils (optional, for more expressive, bold drawings) |
