Sketchbook: Relax, Reflect, Create
PRESENTED BY JOYCE SULLIVAN
Classes: Mondays, 6/6-7/18 (no class July 4th)
Location: Sandwich Arts Alliance Center, 124 Rt. 6A, Sandwich, MA
Cost: $90 member/$110 non-member
Have you ever wanted to keep an art journal filled with your art, thoughts and experiences? This class is for you.
Each week we will look at examples of art journal pages to generate ideas on how to arrange our own work, notes and dates. When we meet we will complete an activity using a variety of materials and techniques such as collage, sketching, poetry, paint, watercolor crayons, fine line markers. Your work will reflect your personal style and will be added to your new art journal. Hopefully these activities will motivate you to add to your journal in between classes.
Upon completion of this class you will have:
A sketch book with paper 90 lbs or greater (it might say mixed media or watercolor) - choose from size 6” x 6” or 6” x 8” (I like Aquabee sketch books sold by Blick)
Instructor: Joyce Sullivan
Joyce Sullivan is a retired elementary school teacher with over 35 years of classroom experience. During that time creative methods were an integral part of teaching the curriculum and encouraging each student to find their niche.
She has taken numerous art classes to nurture her own creativity. Keeping samples of work from her art classes and adding personal art completed outside of classes Joyce has compiled art journals. These reflect her growth of art skills, her memories of people and places and an appreciation of how the smallest moment in a day has value.
“To play with paint, crayons, paper and all those other creative tools just as my students did gives me time to relax and be surprised by colors, shapes, and meaning. Another addition to my journal.”
Class Registration closes 48 hours prior to the first class, as a courtesy to the instructor. Some classes have limited enrollment so please register soon so you don’t miss out.
