COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This 8-week workshop offers a comprehensive deep dive into the art of writing professional feature film treatments. You’ll explore the essential elements of story development—from mastering narrative structure and designing dynamic characters to crafting high-stakes conflict and writing impactful, authentic dialogue.

We’ll analyze both the eight-sequence structure and the classic Hero’s Journey, applying these frameworks to build stories with emotional resonance and cinematic momentum. By adhering to industry standards and developing a disciplined writing practice, you’ll complete a polished, full-length treatment—an ideal foundation for expanding your project into a first draft screenplay in Feature Screenwriting II.
No experience necessary.
INSTRUCTIONAL METHODS:
This class is taught in lots of different ways, like lectures, screening clips, group chats, writing tasks, and project talks. Everyone should be cool with sharing their work and chatting about their classmates' work in class.

The esteemed Chair of the NYC Film Academy, Claude is here to share his wealth of expertise. With a remarkable track record in TV, film, and directing, he's ready to guide you toward unleashing your creative potential. Claude's long list of awards and accolades includes short films for Saturday Night Live, as well as director of “They Never Found Her” with Elisabeth Moss and Peter Stormare.
