Do you paint with an idea of what you want to say? It’s an interesting concept worth investigating! Over the course of the day, through a combination of demos and exercises with directed painting, participants will discover some key truths about their work and how it is perceived. Suited for all levels, Kim covers core best-practices like value and color theory with expert tips to increase your painting proficiency, vocabulary, and composition. Artists are encouraged to work in a series for this class and can expect to leave with an impressive stack of exciting, small-scale studies. Throughout the workshop, instruction is provided to the class and individually. Class will end with an optional (but supportive and voluntary) group critique. Experiment freely, get personalized guidance, and increase your painting confidence — a core tenet of amplifying your artist voice. All opaque mediums are welcome, because the core concepts are consistent - choose oil, acrylic, and gouache. (For this workshop, no watercolor please. Painting with watercolor has its strength in transparency and follows a different and opposing set of rules and strategies than will be studied.) Suggested supply lists are provided. Kim Morin Weineck is an award-winning artist, educator, and designer who enjoys working in all art mediums, traditional and digital.
Endlessly inspired by nature and hailing from an immensely creative family of artists, she graduated with distinction from Massachusetts College of Art and is a juried member of local and national art societies. She lives in Norfolk, Massachusetts with her husband and two teen daughters. Her work is carried in numerous galleries, especially in New England. She loves to teach.
