“Painting Cape Cod in Oils” presented by Vail Pagliarani

Please join us at this new offering with professional artist Vail Pagliarani. This class is for Oil painting only. During class we will explore the scenic beauty of Cape Cod in oils. This class will cover the initial early block-in stage and continue by applying additive techniques to complete a piece. Topics will cover composition, drawing, color, tonal harmony, values and edges.
Class will initially focus on floral still life. The instructor will show and discuss examples of landscapes, marinas and harbor scenes. Depending on your comfort level with this medium you may work on a single painting or as many as one painting a session. Beginners to more experienced are all welcomed. The instructor encourages every student to contact him to discuss what we will be working on and cover the materials that will be needed. - Paints: titanium white, cadmium yellow, naples yellow, yellow ochre, cadmium red, alizarin, transparent oxide red, viridian, cobalt blue, and ultramarine. - Odorless mineral spirits by Gamsol as a medium to thin the paint. - Washer to contain the mineral spirit. - Brushes: I use flats in a number of widths plus one fine point sable for detail - Canvas: panels or stretched, recommended size 12x16 - Julian Plein Air easels are preferred but table easels will be supplied for those that wish to sit.
