The Art of Writing Haiku

Times: 1:30-3:00PM Location: Sandwich Arts Alliance Center, 124 Rt. 6A, Sandwich, MA Cost: $60 members/$70 non-members ![]() In this class you will learn the art of writing Haiku. Each participant will also receive a copy of Chrisitina’s book, Seasons Rising: A Collection of Haiku. Each student should bring a notebook and pen to class. You will write both in class and at home. Seating is limited so sign up early.
Instructor: Christina Laurie
Christina is a native of Worcester, Ma. Christina served a dozen years as pastor of United Methodist church in Massachusetts ,Connecticut and Rhode Island. She began writing Haiku in college and has published Haiku since 1976 in numerous magazines, periodicals and anthologies in the US, Canada, Japan and England. Her students, from senior centers to grade school students, are enthusiastic and some have gone on to be published.
Her first book, Seasons Rising: A Collection of Haiku was published in 2014. Her other poetry books are Song of the Dancer, and Purr Poems: Kittens and Cats. Her two children’s books are C is for Cape Cod and The Lobsters’ Night Before Christmas. (All are in the SAA bookstore). Seven of her poems and haiku were published in Pebbles in the Stream, also available at SAA. |
