Artist Statement/Biography

My art is fueled by a lifelong respect and curiosity for nature. I enjoy observing the cycles and rhythms of change that I discover while exploring off the beaten path.

My process starts with editing my photographs for stronger composition, doing smaller plein air watercolor studies as well as sketchbook drawings. I enjoy the constant visual problem-solving challenges of composition, shape, color, value, mark making and atmosphere. I appreciate the flexibility that drawing, acrylics, mixed media and collage provide to me.

Peggy Richard holds a BA and MEd in Art Education and taught art in north central Massachusetts before relocating to Cape Cod in 2013. She is a juried member at the Cape Cod Art Center, a member of the Sandwich Arts Alliance, the Falmouth Art Center, the Cotuit Center of the Arts, as well as the Marshworks Art Collective. She has studied with Mary Moquin and Ed Chesnovitch. She is an award-winning artist whose works can be seen in exhibitions throughout Massachusetts.
