Creative Crescendo

The purpose of this exploratory workshop will be to investigate ways to develop and strengthen creativity in visual arts by experimenting and interacting with different types of music.  Think of it as a workout for your brain rather than your body.
In this 3-hour workshop, you will enjoy: 
  • Introductory lecture (20 minutes): an open discussion of ways we can use the influence of music to affect our creative process, including:
    • Allowing musical mood to affect color scheme
    • Rhythmic mark making
    • Visual exploration and interpretation of lyrics
    • Singing or dancing while working
  • 3-4 brief (20-30 minute) creative sessions, each anchored by a different genre of music
  • A brief sharing/discussion interlude after each music session
The intention of this workshop is not to produce a finished piece or to teach a specific technique, but rather to develop a pathway to increase creativity and develop new ways of thinking about our art.
