Chords and Gourds! Do Hallowe’en and Ukulele Fest mix? Absolutely! We're ready to serve up some great talent with some fun, local bands: Cape Cod Ukulele Club, Unlikely Strummers, Ukeladies, Shining Sea Strummers, CCFTA's Concert Ready Ukulele Band, Score Music Ukulele Experts, and the Steve Gregory Utopian Ukulele Trio (subject to change). They'll be performing outside on the lawn of the newly-renovated Sandwich Public Library on Sunday, Oct. 31 from 3-4:30pm. The event will be hosted by Steve Gregory so we know we're in for a fun-filled afternoon! For a little extra buzz this year, we'll also be welcoming some talented performers from Improv Cape Cod for entertainment between sets. So bring your chairs, enjoy the free music, and then head into the Village for trick-or-treating!
Originating in Portugal, the ukulele is most closely associated with Hawaii as Portuguese instrument-makers emigrated to the Big Island in the 1880’s. The ukulele is enjoying a resurgence of popularity in recent years. This four-stringed cousin of the guitar comes in four “flavors:” soprano, concert, tenor, and baritone. Ukulele music can be complex or comical, and it’s always entertaining.
