Sandwich Arts Alliance: Fall for the Arts in Sandwich
Sat, Oct 10th, 10am - 4pm and 7 - 9pm
As part of the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod's 2015 celebration of October at Arts Month, the Sandwich Arts Alliance is hosting an all-day "Fall for the Arts" festival on Saturday, October 10th from 10am - 4pm, in Sandwich Village. It will include a Fine Arts Exhibit, and "Arts in Action" indoor show, "Writer's on Writing" Panels & Workshops, an Artists outside sale, Music under the Tent, food vendors, and an evening Jazz Concert & Play from 7 - 9pm.
Fun for everyone!
These events will be at these three locations in Sandwich Village: Town Hall, First Church, and on the grounds of the Deacon Eldred House. Be sure to pick up a program schedule at the Welcome Table found at the entrance of each location. Here are the events, times, and locations:
Town Hall Auditorium, 130 Main Street
11am – 3pm ARTS IN ACTION. We invite you to come and meet our artists and discover how they create their masterpieces. Then take a chance and bid on their donated artworks during the Silent Auction. Additional art pieces will be for sale. Artists include: Ann Lainhart – quilting, June Kershaw – jewelry, Tina Trites – scratch board, Jeanne Bridges – oil & acrylic painting, Jamielyn Mosca – painting, Kathy Coggeshall – spinning and photography, Kathryn Kleekamp – oil painting, Carol Flax – cut paper collage, Richard Muccini – oil painting, Carolyn LeComte – oil painting and pen & ink drawing, Cynthia Buckley – stained glass, Jodie Hale – digital painting, Ken Northrup – painting, and Suzanne Parker – white line tile cuts.
We greatly appreciate the kind generosity of our artists for donating their masterpieces as the proceeds will help the Sandwich Arts Alliance continue their mission.
11am - 4pm, 7 - 9pm FINE ARTS EXHIBIT. Original artwork by the Visual Arts Group members will be showcased and available for sale. The exhibit will include pastels, watercolors, acrylics, oils, photography, stained glass and cut paper collages. Among the artists exhibiting are Gayle Morrow, Jamielyn Mosca, Carolyn LeComte, Whitey Kellerman and Kathryn Kleekamp. The Fine Art Exhibit may also be viewed in the evening before and during the concert intermission.
7 - 9pm CAPE COD CARIBE JAZZ CONCERT & the play LEMONADE. Be prepared as this will truly be an evening to electrify the senses - from the fiery hot rhythms of the Afro-Cuban jazz band to the funny and poignant story about two lifelong friends reminiscing while surrounded by fine art and historical architecture! The ticket to this evening’s program is sure to be the hottest ticket in town!
The Cape Cod Caribe Jazz Band is known for their fiery hot Afro-Cuban Jazz and traditional Cuban music – they will turn the upstairs of Town Hall into the Cape’s version of the Buena Vista Social Club. The group is comprised of renowned musicians Greg Polanik - guitar, Tony Scalisi – percussion, Matt Brown – bass and flute, and Steve Langone – drums. Singing vocals, Cerise Bynoe offers a unique style, quality, and vocal ability that is reminiscent of Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughn.
Lemonade is a wonderfully witty and emotional one act play about two matrons who seek respite from the doldrums of middle age by selling spiked lemonade to highway travelers. The dialogue is at first hilarious as the two drink all the lemonade and share fantasies, only to turn sober to stark reality. Bringing the two friends to life are well known regional actresses Carol McManus and her "surprise friend" Sandwich’s Ms. McManus is as comfortable in the director’s chair as she is on the stage at the Cotuit Center for the Arts or on the Glass Town Stage in Sandwich’s Town Hall. As to Ms. McManus' friend - come see and be pleasantly surprised!
Tickets for the Cape Cod Caribe Jazz Concert and the play Lemonade are $18 adults/ $10 for students, They are available at Splash Stationers; online at sandwichartsalliance.org; all day at the Welcome Tables at Town Hall, First Church and the Deacon Eldred House grounds,;and at the door that evening.

The public is enthusiastically invited to join professional writers at 11 free sessions presented by the Literary Arts group of the Sandwich Arts Alliance. Authors will offer four panel discussions, six workshops and one demonstration on the combined use of words and music in both Literary and Performing Arts members. "Writers on Writing" concludes with a final hour of refreshments, book signings and "one-on-one" with the authors. No admission or reservations required, but donations to help cover our expenses will be most gladly accepted.
SUGGESTION: Bring a notebook and pen, just in case the Muse strikes . . .

About our Music Artists:
Sandwich Students Showcase are from "Melinda's Music Studio", a private voice studio. They are of various ages and are from Sandwich, Sturgis, Tabor and Bourne schools and receive instruction individual instruction in voice or piano.
Reckless Roots is composed of band members Sam Holmstock (late of Entrain) - percussion & vocals, Tony Fitsch - guitar & vocals, and James Petcoff (late of Steve Morgan & The Kingfish) - bass & vocals. They play original songs and select covers featuring roots rock, R&B, Reggae, Blues plus a dash of pop and jazz.
Singer/Songwriters Kim Moberg and Ric Allendorf met in January of 2014 at an Open Mic in Dennis, MA. They began collaborating on each other's sets and discovered that they shared a love for obscure songs in genres spanning from traditional folk to contemporary Roots and Americana.
Their eclectic musical tastes, combined with a style based on vocal and acoustic guitar harmonies, enable them to interpret a wide repertoire of songs by artists such as You + Me, The Civil Wars, Lori McKenna, Mark Erelli and even Jimi Hendrix. In addition to customizing cover tunes, Kim and Ric have composed songs both individually and collaboratively.
They share lead and harmony vocals and their blend captures the listeners’ attention by pulling them in to the heart of the song. They favor lyrics that tell stories of love, longing, forgiveness and self-discovery.

Sandwich Arts Alliance which is sure to be fun for everyone!
