Make A Poem With Sounds

Sandwich Public Library Emerging Poets, ages 5-9 years old, are invited to learn about how poets play with the sounds of language to create poetry. Steven is a Falmouth poet and author. Young poets get the chance to write their own poem and try out techniques such as alliteration, end rhyme and internal rhyme. Courtesy registration recommended (see SAA Website). Dust Off Your Inner Poet For teens and adults
Saturday, April 8, 12 – 2 PM
Sandwich Public Library Cost: $10 There’s a poet hiding in each of us! Join June Bowser-Barrett in this two-hour event, full of fun exercises to bring out the poet inside you! Become aware of the poetry that surrounds us every day. Look at some fun forms and shapes of poems. Draw words from a hat and write a poem. Create a poem based on something that moves you. You will also have a chance to share something at the Sunday “Poetry Fest”, if you desire! |
Poetry Fest

Sandwich Town Hall Our second annual Poetry Fest is jam-packed afternoon featuring a variety of fun selections: • Local celebrities reading their favorite poems: Randy Hunt, Dr. Pam Gould, Jay Pateakos, Mark Snyder, Jeanne Prendergast, Vicky Titcomb, Carol McManus, and more • Teens from STEM and SHS reciting original works • Local 5-9 yr olds perform works from“Make a Poem with Sounds” • Stars from the “Dust Off Your Inner Poet”workshop share their work • A “Mystery Poet” you won’t want to miss • Refreshments will be available from Beth’s Bakery & Cafe |
