Sandwich Arts Alliance at SandwichFest
The Sandwich Arts Alliance's first event will be at the Sandwich Chamber of Commerce’s SandwichFest on June 27th
The Alliance will be on the grounds of the Deacon Eldred House, 4 Water Street, from 10am-4pm exhibiting in six different tents. Many thanks to Jay Pateakos, Chamber Executive Director, and Donna Kutil, SandwichFest Chair, for allowing our group to join their special day. In addition, the Alliance thanks the Glass Town Cultural District and the Massachusetts Cultural Council, our partners and supporters, for providing the funding for our participation in SandwichFest. Visit them at their tent next to the Alliance main tent.
The Sandwich Arts Alliance main tent will be located on Water Street. Membership forms will be available to join the Alliance, as well as tee shirts for sale and free balloons and stickers. The Board members will be there to share all the fun and excitement of this new dynamic group.

Right next to the Alliance tent will be the Visual Arts tent.The Visual Arts group of the Sandwich Arts Alliance will have over 30 members participating in the SandwichFest Art Show and Sale. Both 2 and 3-dimensional works will be represented in this show as well as a fine art display by the 8th grade STEM Academy students. Works will include watercolor, acrylic, fine arts photography, blown glass, custom jewelry and much more. Kathryn Kleekamp, Frank Winters, Margaret Ellsworth, Diana Payne, Rita Bernier, Maureen Burbic, Janet Weeks, Ken Wiedemann, Carolyn Wiedemann , June Kershaw, Tina Trites, Alan Budney, Cris Reverdy, Jeff Urquhart, Lenore Lyons, Joanne Westerhouse, Patricia Mosca, Wendy Nelson, Jeanne Hamilton, and Carolyn LeComte are just a few of our local artists whose work will be in the Visual Artists Art Show tent. This is the second of many exhibitions representing the Visual Arts Group in Sandwich.
Sure to be fun for the kids will be an opportunity “To Be A Star” with lots of fun things to adorn themselves and/or they can be a Lobster (made by Frank Pannorfi). Parents are invited to take their kids pictures. |
In the middle of the grounds, under a 20’ x 40’ tent furnished by the Barnstable Sheriff’s Dept. will be author members from the Literary Arts group. Noted authors Jim Coogan, Christie Lowrance, Dean Coe, Carolyn LeComte and Shirley Vogel, and Bill Burbank will be there to discuss and sell their books many of which are about Sandwich.
The Sandwich Atlantic Twinning Association (SATA) will also be in the Authors’ tent. The Twinning Table will have a collection of gifts, letters, news articles, ‘Messages to Massachusetts’, brochures and photos given to our town by Sandwich, Kent, England in celebration of our town's 375th anniversary. One of the signed Proclamations between the two towns will be on display along with books by Sandwich, UK authors and the story of the Earl of Sandwich and the creation of the first " sandwich" will be artistically detailed on tea towels and available for sale. There will also be maps of both towns, flags and a sign-up sheet to join the SATA and become an email pal with someone from Sandwich, Kent, England. Wendy King and Dean Coe, Sandwich, MA SATA leaders invite everyone to come meet and greet Jim Marshall who is the head of the SATA in the UK. Jim will be at the table from 10-10:45am and from 1:30 – 4pm and brings greetings from the Mayor and the Earl of Sandwich. Jim will also be representing the SATA as a Sandwich Judge at SandwichFest and planting a tree at Kiwanis Park on the 26th. The Authors will also be giving readings of their works down by the pond. The Performing Arts group will be represented in two different tents.
The striped tent located behind the Deacon Eldred House will host music members: 10:00am - John Williams 10:30am - Rumble Wagon: Greg Polanik/Steve McElheny 11:15am - Kim Moberg and Ric Allendorf 12:00pm - Sam Holmstock 1:00pm - Brian Sances Duet 2:00pm - Score Music Studios 3:00pm - Jim Ellis Duet also, Shawn Malcomson will be walking around playing music. At the Drama tent at 6 Water Street, actors will be performing at the following times: 11:15 - 11:45am - Drama Fun by the DramaFun! Players 2:30 - 4:00pm - Open Mic performances Everyone is invited to come enjoy the launch of the Sandwich Arts Alliance and the many artistic offerings by our members, with picturesque Shawme Pond as the perfect backdrop. |
