The Percussion Plus Project
The Percussion Plus Project is a ground-breaking chamber music ensemble that was founded by Amy Lynn Barber in 1993 in Prague, and later based in Ljubljana and Vienna. The group performed with wide acclaim throughout Europe in their own concert series and at international festivals, and recorded works for radio and CDs. Active for over 20 years, the ensemble recently concluded an 11-year residency at DePauw University in Indiana, and is now based on Cape Cod.
The Percussion Plus Project specializes in a unique and innovative repertoire of contemporary music for percussion instruments and invited guest soloists. Guests artist for this concert will include cellist Bo Ericsson, flutist Orlando Cela, and pianist David Kuehn. The percussionists, who play a wide range of percussion instruments including the marimba, vibraphone, drums, cymbals and gongs, and other colorful and exotic instruments, will be Amy Lynn Barber and Mark Prall. The variety of percussion instruments help to make the performance visually and choreographically exciting.
A special feature of this concert will be the performance of a new work written expressly for the ensemble by Sandwich composer David Cohen.
