Sandwich Arts Alliance Comprehensive Exhibit Policy   ​
Entries should be original work from ones’ own creativity or references. The entries cannot be a copy of another painting, image from magazines, the internet, or any type of copyrighted reproduction. The entry should be the artist's own original composition and comply with all existing copyright laws.

Guidelines For Artwork
Our intention is to have work in the Sandwich Arts Alliance Exhibits that demonstrate a high level of skill whether it be Fine Art or Fine Artisan work. We accept fiber arts, glass, ceramics, assemblage, photography, sculpture and all methods of painting and painting media.
  1. Compositions inspired by public domain images are allowed as long as they are substantially altered from the original reference. This includes images generated with Artificial Intelligence as long as those images meet all copyright requirements.
  2. Work done under tutelage of an instructor is normally accepted in Member Exhibits. However, work done with substantial assistance from an instructor is not acceptable for Juried or Member Exhibits.
  3. Unframed Giclee and printed material will be accommodated in a bin located in the Gift Shop or the gallery. Only 2 of the same piece at a time and not to exceed 1/2” thick. The work is to be displayed unframed and in an acetate sleeve. (clearbags.com) Your name, title and price should be clearly marked on the back of the piece. Tape should not be used.
  4. No stenciling or tracing in any work to be exhibited by the Alliance and no giclee prints in juried exhibits (framed giclee prints are allowed in Member’s Exhibits and will be labeled as such)
  5. After electronic submission NO CHANGES will be made to the label information. (think carefully about the title and price because once submitted there will be no changes) Information submitted is what is used for the exhibit label.
  6. All work is to be “ready to hang” when submitted. The name of the artist, title, price and dimensions must be securely fastened to the back of the work. Information may be written a SMALL piece of paper and then stapled to the wire or information may be marked directly onto the backing or stretcher frame.
  7. All work is to be framed. The ONLY exception is if the work is on a “gallery wrap canvas” and the sides must be painted either with a solid color or a continuation of the painted subject. Gallery wrap canvases must be at least 1 ¼” deep.
  8. All work is to be hung with picture wire extending from the right edge to the left edge between eye hooks or D-rings. These fastenings are to penetrate the frame and be secured by picture wire. The picture wire should be slightly slack but never enough to extend above the work when hanging. Attach wire 1/3 of the way down from the top of the frame.

  10. Work should not exceed 40” in either direction (including frame).
  11. Work is to look professional front and back. (No fingerprints, smudges, dust, torn paper backing, nicks in the frame or extraneous markings, an “aged” look, yellowing or water stains)
  12. Only work that is dry to the touch will be accepted.
  13. Works may not be removed before the final date of the show unless a sale is at risk.
  14. Late work will not be accepted.
  15. All guidelines pertain to work at the Fishermen’s View and the SAA Gallery. See additional requirements below.
  16. The Alliance is not responsible for lost or damaged work. Each artist should provide their own insurance.
  17. The SAA reserves the right to reject any artwork that does not comply with these guidelines or that is deemed unsuitable for the gallery.

FISHERMENʼS VIEW PROSPECTUS: The work accepted into the Fishermen’s  View exhibitions must be nautical/marine in theme (ocean, boats, seascapes, beaches, dunes, shells) OR a 'Cape' themed landscape (Total floral is not acceptable). The hanging committee retains the right to reject work that does not follow the theme expected by the owners of the Fishermens View. Giclee prints are allowed and will be labeled as such.
