About Upper Structure
Upper Structure was founded in 2015 at Berklee College of Music; these humble beginnings started something that none of the founding members could have ever imagined. In 2018, they released their first studio album, Bridges. A seven-track album filled with nuanced arrangements, smooth vocals, and powerful soloists, this album introduced Upper Structure’s style to the world. Shortly after the release, Upper Structure’s rendition of She Used to Be Mine was recognized on the Best of Collegiate A Cappella 2018 album. The same year they released this album, they competed in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella, receiving awards at each competition for best soloist, best vocal percussionist, and best choreography. In addition to these special awards, they were awarded first place at both their Quarterfinal and Semifinal, and finished second place overall at the ICCA Final. With this success, Upper Structure has pushed ahead - they recorded and released their second studio album in April 2019, Second Wind, featuring the music from their award-winning ICCA set. They have also filmed their first ever music video, Water Guns, released in February 2019.
Through all of its success, Upper Structure remains focused on the one reason the group started in the first place: creating unity through music. In bringing an emotional, empowering, and innovative view to the music they perform, the group has created a family with each other, as well as sharing this family to the world around them.
