“Love, Loss, and What I Wore” is a play written by Nora and Delia Ephron, based on the 1995 book by Ilene Beckerman.
The play is structured as a series of monologues and features a rotating cast of five principal women. It explores the complex and often poignant relationship between women, their relationships, and their wardrobes, using clothing as a metaphorical time capsule of a woman’s life.
The subject matter of the monologues ranges from humorous to serious, covering topics such as love, marriage, motherhood, divorce, grief, and even cancer. The stories are interwoven with recollections from friends and are largely sourced from Beckerman’s book, with additional material from the Ephrons’ circle.
The play debuted in 2008 and has since been produced in various locations, including a notable Off-Broadway run that became the second-longest running show in the Westside Theatre’s history.
It has received critical acclaim, winning the 2010 Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience and the 2010 Broadway.com Audience Award for Favorite New Off-Broadway Play1.
